Introduction to Marbling

Time: All class times are Pacific Time, 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM Classroom doors open at 11:45 AM.

Venue: SDBA’s Zoom Account, to be recorded with recording access provided for one month following class, or the last class within a series—for registrants only, password protected, not downloadable and only shared with class registrants.

Materials Fee: Each SDBA class price includes the materials fee and shipping costs. Beyond Pietro’s quality Supply Kit of 4 rakes, carrageenan, alum, pipettes, a 9”x11” tray and 15 sheets of prepared paper—Intro to Marbling registrants will need to order their own paints, more paper and and some further set-up supplies, which will be covered in the time sensitive SDBA Welcome Letter.

Class Description: Join us in experiencing a thorough introduction to Western paper marbling. This online class series will provide an extensive knowledge of the marbling universe. You will learn many secrets and how to execute all the most famous patterns, along with an education and supplies that will support years of marbling. Each of the four sessions will explore a different theme, focusing on two patterns and their variations. Discussion will include color theory and harmony in combining colors for marbling. Students will watch the live demonstrations with time to work and ask questions of the instructor.
